In Ballet hand and feet positions are important. There are 5 main positions for feet and even hands. |
First position:
Feet: both legs face out and heel to heel together
Hands: extended in front of you, in lining with your chest,
fingers slightly touching with each.
Second position:
Fee: both legs still facing out but leave a gap near each
Hands: the same but far apart, still in lining with your
chest.
Third position:
Feet: in front of each, facing out
Hands: one in line with your head and the other stays the
same as the second position.
Fourth position:
Feet: Still in front of each other but hips more closed, far
apart from each other. Heels must be shown.
Hands: One on your head like in third position and the other
hand the same as the first position, in lining with your chest.
Fifth position:
Feet: touch with each other, heel still facing out.
Hands: both in line with your head as the third position.
To hold these positions you need to leave your back straight
so you won’t fall.
